James Connor Bascue, Concord High School, Class of 2002.
Eagle Project: "I collected over 17,000 hooks, including children's books, encyclopedias and young adult books, for the Alma Reaves Woods Watts Branch Library. Alma Woods, who through her will and energy got the library built for Watts, needed as many books as we could provide. These hooks are being used by library patrons, as well as distributed to schools, Head Start programs, and provided as prizes to children". Troop Memories: "My best memories are the people I have met and friends I have made. The campouts and summer camps were all fun and I was exposed to things I never would have seen or done. I definitely appreciate the values and morals that Troop 2 teaches and I am glad to take them with me in life."
Robben Orion Wilson-Anger, Concord High School, Class of 2002. Eagle
Project: "I conducted a shoe and sock collection drive for the homeless and needy in Santa
Monica. This drive included a request for dress shoes for people to wear to job interviews. The shoes and socks were then distributed by the Ocean Park Community Access Center." Troop Memories: "I will remember the social and leadership skills that were taught to me throughout my years in the troop. I will also take with me fond memories of the beautiful sights I have seen. Most of all, I will remember being the MC for the campfires!"
AP® SCHOLAR AWARDS
Four students at Concord High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their
exceptional achievement on the college-level AP Exams. Only about 13 percent of the more than 840,000 students in 13,680 schools who took AP Exams in May 2001 performed at a sufficiently high level to merit such recognition.

Students take AP Exams in May after completing challenging college-level courses at their high schools. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on the number of year-long courses and exams (or their equivalent, semester-long courses and exams). At Concord High School, one student qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. This student is Alexander Peter Davis.
Three students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing 3 or more AP Exams, with grades of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Laura Lazarus Frankel, Andrew Ross King and Sean O'Reilly-Jones.
GATHERING SHOES JUST FOR TEENS
A good pair of shoes for the right occasion make a kid walk tall. That is what my 17-year-old sister Chelsea thought when she started a new charity called A Walk in Your Shoes a few months ago. Her idea is for teens to help each other by recycling used or slightly defective shoes from the people who have too many shoes to teens who have none.
Shoe collection has begun at Concord High School, and other private schools, banks and businesses in the Santa Monica area. We've gotten a lot of support at Concord, a private school in Santa Monica, since that is where Chelsea and I attend, along with four other Board members [Lauren Cowan, Scott Russo, Bailey Gallison, Brynne Cohen].
At Concord, we collected more than 100 pairs of shoes and $31. When we collected shoes at Concord, Chelsea said she was totally surprised when her Latin teacher Chris Hudson, a teacher who is very strict and to4he-point, went out and bought a black pair of men's Prada shoes to donate.
[Chelsea] hopes for publicity on Oprah and local media outlets. "We want to create a new image of teenagers - one of compassion and of taking responsibility for solving problems." - Lindsay Spann
